Although I have obtained a large vocabulary from reading, I know very little about grammar. Academics were never my strong suit (largely D's and F's), and my education is less than exceptional (8th grade). Consequentially my approach writing is somewhat unconventional. Instead of following the usual rules of writing I try to find the music and flow of the words by first writing a piece, then reading it aloud, and editing out the "sour notes". It is a tedious process at times but overcoming obstacles of expression often are. In spite of all this, during my 2&1/2 years at Go Go Magazine my short column dedicated to restaurant reviews, morphed into a full page feature of fictional, short stories that happened to take place in or around restaurants.
